Manchester Attorney James Tenn To Assume Office As NH Bar Association President
James J. Tenn, Jr. | James J. Tenn, Jr., takes office as President of the New Hampshire Bar Association at the 2009 Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 27 at the Mount Washington Resort.
He succeeds Ellen L. Arnold, Associate General Counsel for Dartmouth College, who served as the 2008-2009 NHBA President.
Tenn, 43, is a trial lawyer in Manchester, and partner in Tenn And Tenn, P.A.., He practices with his twin brother John Tenn, and sister Mary Elizabeth Tenn. Another sister, Annmarie Tenn, is an attorney in Boston with the law firm of Ropes & Gray.
Tenn has served as President-Elect, and as a Governor at Large and as Hillsborough County representative on the NH Bar Board of Governors. He has continuously served on the Board of Governors for almost 10 years. Last year, as President-Elect, he was the Bar’s appointee on the NH Professional Conduct Committee.
He received his law degree from The Catholic University of America, and after was admitted to NH Bar in 1991. He also was admitted to Massachusetts Bar in 1992.
He is a past president of the Manchester Bar Association and longtime member of that organization’s executive committee. He has long been an active Pro Bono volunteer and vice chair of the Pro Bono Advisory Board. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation executive committee and chairs its development committee. He is the former chair of the Bar’s New Lawyers Committee; and frequently participated in the Lawyer in Every School program, and as a Mock Trial coach. His firm has hosted LawLine for several years.
In 1999, he was named the recipient of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation’s Robert E. Kirby award recognizing excellent advocacy, professionalism, and civility among attorneys under 35 years of age. In 2001, he was recognized by the Bar for Distinguished Pro Bono Service.
Tenn, a Manchester native, is married and lives in Manchester.
