NH Minimum Continuing Legal Education
NHMCLE

To assist the Supreme Court with effective and efficient application of Supreme Court Rule 53, administration of the NHMCLE program is based at the Bar Center and overseen by the court-appointed New Hampshire Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board. The NHMCLE program of the New Hampshire Supreme Court should not be confused with the New Hampshire Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education program.

This is the central location to review information about the annual CLE requirement in New Hampshire. Topics are listed in alphabetical order. Please scroll through the list to find the applications, explanations and forms you desire.

2010 CLE Compliance Process

No attendance for courses completed after June 30, 2010 will be posted to online CLE records until AFTER October 1, 2010, the compliance deadline.

Q: I missed the June 30 deadline and do not have my required credits. What do I do now?

A: You will have to complete your 2010 credits retroactively. Review the list of Annual Sponsors below to select approved courses. Make sure you receive course attendance/completion records from the sponsors for all completed CLE programs. You will receive a pink Certificate of Compliance in August.

At the end of August, the NHMCLE Office will send Certificates of Compliance to all active attorneys by US Mail using different colors of paper to indicate what that lawyer has to do. Lawyers who have not received their Certificates by Labor Day (September 6, 2010) should contact the NHMCLE Office by email, mcle@nhbar.org.

NEW for 2010 – Shortened Compliance Period, Lower Delinquency Fees

Lawyers who have not completed their CLE credits and filed their executed, pink Certificates of Compliance by November 1, 2010 will have their names sent to the NH Supreme Court with a request for suspension. The maximum late filing fee decreases to $150. These changes to SC Rule 53 were ordered by the NH Supreme Court in April 2010.

PINK – Lawyers were not in compliance by June 30, 2010. They have to complete their CLE credit shortage and respond by October 1, 2010 to avoid $50 late fee. Directions to respond by US Mail are on reverse side of the Certificate.

BLUE – Lawyers who are exempt from the 2010 CLE requirement. No response is required unless corrections are needed. October 1, 2010 is the deadline for corrections.

WHITE
– Lawyers who were in compliance by June 30, 2010. No response is required unless corrections are needed. October 1, 2010 is the deadline for corrections.

A Reminder to All Lawyers Who Are Taking CLE Programs: You cannot add courses to your online record.  Check your online record 30 days after you request that your attendance be reported to be sure the Annual Sponsor has made it.  If you take courses not presented by an Annual Sponsor, please submit the Attorney Credit Application Form with attachments within 30 days of course completion to have the course entered into your record, keeping it up to date as the compliance year progresses. See the list of Annual Sponsors below.
SC Rule 53 specifies that lawyers are required to maintain a file of their CLE course attendance records for 2 (two) years following compliance and these records have to be available.
